ABOUT THE EVENT
Welcome to the North Hills First Responder Softball Tournament (NHFRST), an annual event dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of our local Police, Fire, and EMS services in the greater Pittsburgh area. Launched in 2024, this tournament was inspired by the courageous stories of two extraordinary heroes: the late Sgt. Robert James Kirsopp of the Hampton Township Police Department, who valiantly battled cancer, and Officer James Ashbaucher of the Northern Regional Police Department, who continues to fight against multiple myeloma.
Born from a deep sense of community and compassion, the NHFRST brings together first responders, their families, and community members to rally for a common cause: supporting those who sacrifice so much for our safety and well-being. Our inaugural tournament raised over $10,000 to support the families of our heroes, and in our second year, we proudly contributed $12,000 to the families of Late Chief Justin McIntire of the Brackenridge Police Department, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty, and the late City of Pittsburgh Fire Captain Jimmy Ellis, who fought valiantly against pancreatic cancer.
At the heart of the NHFRST is a commitment to giving back to those who have given us so much. Each year, we unite as a community, celebrating the spirit of camaraderie, resilience, and hope. Organized by the North Hills First Responder Corporation, a registered 501(c)(3) organization run by first responders, our mission is to continue raising funds to benefit two deserving first responders and their families each year.
Join us in this heartfelt endeavor as we honor our heroes, support their families, and strengthen the bonds within our community. Together, we can make a difference, one pitch at a time.
